Frequent questions

My starter looks hungry / sad / covered in liquid

Fermie mirrors what a real starter does between feedings. The dark liquid on top is hooch — alcohol the yeast makes when it runs out of flour. Pour it off or stir it in, then feed. The app explains what it sees on the smell check screen.

The reminders stopped arriving

Fermie schedules local notifications, so they need permission. Check iOS Settings → Notifications → Fermie. Inside the app, the gear icon opens the reminder settings.

The widget shows the wrong starter, or none

The widget reads what the app last published. Open Fermie once and it updates; if you switched starters, feeding or opening the app republishes the current one.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us: iOS Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → Fermie → Cancel. Canceling during the 7-day free trial costs nothing.

I paid but the app still asks me to subscribe

Tap Restore purchases on the subscription screen. If it still doesn't unlock, write to us with the Apple Account email you used.

I lost my starter / changed phones

Fermie stores everything on the device and has no account or cloud backup yet, so an iPhone-to-iPhone transfer or an encrypted iCloud/Finder backup carries it over — a fresh install does not. Sync is on the roadmap.
