πŸ«™ Fermie β€” Privacy Policy

Effective August 3, 2026

Fermie collects no data. Your sourdough starter β€” and everything about it β€” lives on your device and nowhere else.

What we collect

Nothing. Fermie has no user accounts, no server, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs. We never see your name, your email, your location, or anything about how you use the app.

Where your data lives

Everything you create in Fermie β€” your starter's name, feeding history, recipes in progress, accessories, family tree β€” is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData. It is never uploaded anywhere. If you delete the app, that data is deleted with it.

Notifications

Feeding reminders are local notifications, scheduled entirely on your device. No push servers are involved.

Widgets

The home-screen widget reads a small snapshot of your starter's state from a shared container on your device (an App Group). It never leaves your phone.

Adoption certificates and QR codes

When you gift a descendant, Fermie generates a QR code on your device. The code contains only what you can see on the certificate: the starter's name, generation, and family line. Sharing it is entirely up to you β€” there is no server behind it.

Purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment information. You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your device Settings.

Children

Fermie collects no data from anyone, children included.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, we will update this page and the effective date above. Given that Fermie's design goal is to collect nothing, don't expect much movement here.
